Dr. Ho's Neck Comforter
Poor posture, prolonged sitting, improper sleeping habits, previous neck injuries, stress... There are various factors that cause tension and pain in the neck and shoulders. The average head is heavy from 4.5 to 5.5 kg, and the neck muscles and shoulder muscles are constantly straining to keep it upright. This leads to stiffness, and it is handled by stretching. Stretching your neck and shoulders improves neck mobility and posture.
Most people obtain results after treatment with Neck Comforter, and this may depends on the cause of pain in the shoulders and neck and on the type of injury you have.*
With aging, the spinal discs can become weak and will bulge with pressure from the weight of the head and from tight neck muscles squeezing the vertebrae and disc together. Tight neck muscles and bulging disc(s) can exert pressure on nerves and blood vessels to constrict circulation between the head, neck and arms. This can cause headaches, weakness, pain, numbness and cold sensation anywhere in the arm to some people.
Neck Comforter is an inflatable neck traction device that inflates with air using a high efficiency hand pump. When it is partially inflated, Neck Comforter functions like a neck support. When Neck Comforter is fully inflated, it supports the weight of the head to help reduce stress on the neck and shoulders. Many health professionals have observed that cervical neck traction allows tight neck muscles to relax, and helps decompress spinal discs and joints. The pressure is adjustable so you can set the stretching to your comfort level. It’s portable, safe and easy to use.
If you suffer from any of the following conditions, order your Neck Comforter which may help for:
• Tension and stiffness in neck and shoulders

With Neck Comforter, it is extremely easy to relieve your muscle tension and pain. First place the Neck Comforter around your neck, with the hand pump on the left side of your body, and then fasten the adjustable Velcro straps. Second, make sure the Slow Air Release Valve (located directly above the pump) is firmly closed by turning it clockwise, then use the pump to inflate the Neck Comforter.
Finally, once you have reached your desired amount of inflation, squeeze the Air Lock Bead into the air passage and push it up so that the air will not instantly exit the Neck Comforter.
- Why is neck traction important?
The neck and shoulder muscles work very hard to hold the head up. The average head weighs 10 to 12 lbs. This repetitive use of the muscles along with daily work, poor posture, previous neck injuries and emotional stress can all cause neck muscles to tighten with time. The tight muscles cause pain and restriction in movement. With aging, the spinal disc can become weak and will bulge with pressure from the weight of the head and from tight neck muscles squeezing the vertebrae and disc together. Tight neck muscles and bulging disc(s) can exert pressure on nerves and blood vessels to constrict circulation between the head, neck and arms. This can cause headaches, weakness, pain, numbness and cold sensation anywhere in the arm. Neck traction can stretch and relax the neck and shoulder muscles while improving the spinal posture. The stretching can decompress the spinal disc which may minimize bulging and ease the constriction on nerve and blood circulation. Neck traction can also take pressure off the painful and stiff joints to relieve pain and improve mobility.
- How does Neck Comforter work?
Neck Comforter is an inflatable neck traction device. It inflates with air using a high efficiency hand pump. When it’s partially inflated, it functions like a neck support. When fully inflated, it will elongate to support the weight of the head to allow the neck muscles to relax. Further inflation will stretch the neck and shoulder muscles, while decompressing the spinal disc and joints. The pressure is adjustable so you can set the stretching to your comfort level. There are no batteries, chemicals or harmful side effects. It’s portable, safe and easy to use.
- For how long should I be using Neck Comforter?
For best results, we recommend that you use Neck Comforter about 2-3 times a day for at least 20 minutes each time. However, if you would prefer to use it for a longer period of time, you should feel free to do so as there are no harmful side effects. (The majority of people will obtain results within 1-3 treatments. Those with slightly more pain and tension might have to leave it on for longer than the recommended 20 minutes.)
- I have a larger neck; does Neck Comforter comes in different sizes?
Neck Comforter has an adjustable Velcro strap which you can adjust to fit your neck size.
- What feeling should I be experiencing when using Neck Comforter?
You should feel a gentle stretching of your neck and also the feeling of your shoulders being pushed downwards. Your head will also be totally supported by Neck Comforter and should feel as if it is “floating” above your neck and shoulders.
- When will I start to feel a difference?
You will feel the stretching effects right away on your neck and upper shoulder muscles. When you take Neck Comforter off after 20 minutes, you will feel much more relaxed. With repeated use, you can get a sense of freedom due to an increased range of motion. Many users also experience immediate relieve with soreness, numbness and cold sensation in their arm and hand area.

No, absolutely not. The unique triple layer system feature included in the Neck Comforter expands lengthwise; it only provides a vertical stretching action for your neck.

Yes, you may definitely do so. However, it is more effective if you are sitting in an upright relaxed position. We recommend that you do not sleep with the Neck Comforter on fully inflated.
- I have arthritis in my neck and shoulders, is it ok to use Neck Comforter?
Neck Comforter will help to take pressure off stiff and painful joints to provide instant comfort and improve neck mobility. People with severe Rheumatoid arthritis should consult with their doctor before using the Neck Comforter.
- How will Neck Comforter help me with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome or general pain in my arms/hands?
By stretching your neck and shoulders, Neck Comforter may reduce restriction on blood and nerve circulation from your neck to your arms. This can provide relief of soreness, numbness and weakness associated with pinched nerves in the neck.
- How does Neck Comforter help with herniated/bulging discs and circulation?
Depending on the stage of disc degeneration, some cases can be helped while the more severe herniated disc may require surgical intervention. Please consult with your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. Neck traction helps by decompressing the spinal disc, negating the pressure from the weight of the head and also from the pulling effects of tight muscles. The decompression may help to reduce the bulge and ease irritation and constriction on nerve and blood vessels sitting close to the spinal disc.
- How will Neck Comforter help me with headaches?
Headaches can result from tension and pain in the neck and shoulders. Stretching and relaxing the neck and shoulder muscles can help to ease radiating pain from the neck to your head. Also tight neck muscles can irritate nerves at the upper back side of the neck which cause headaches. Neck traction can relax the muscles at the back of the neck to reduce the irritation on the nerves that are causing the headaches.
